Companies are projected to hire more administrative assistants than ever before; the time is right to make this your new profession. There is a need for people with the communication and organizational skills to keep an office running smoothly, and the design acumen to create newsletters and other communication material. If you feel you meet these criteria, this may be an excellent chance to begin or expand your career in this field.

Graduates of this program will learn a variety of skills needed to succeed in this field, including bookkeeping, using Microsoft Office software and the Adobe Creative Suite, as well as the highly important communication abilities to work with a variety of clients, staff and management. The inclusion of Desktop Publishing gives graduates specialized skills to include on their resumes for competitive edge.

Graduates are successfully employed in positions with Canadian companies as: Administrative Assistants, Junior Secretaries, Office Clerks, Receptionists, and Graphic Designers.

Note: Computer literacy and  numeracy skills assessment test will be required prior to admission to some skills training programs. An interview may follow to assess language competency and eligibility for some programs.

The Administrative Assistant program, designed especially for clients of Toronto Employment and Social Services (TESS), under an initiative called Skills Training Directly Linked to Employment (STDLE), covers all modules in the Diploma Program and adds a 6-week unpaid work placement component.
