On April 17, 2013, Working Skills Centre celebrated the commencement of the 2012 Medical Reception, Administrative Assistant with Desktop Publishing, Office Clerk & Accounting Clerk diploma program graduates. Amongst friends, family and WSC Staff, the evening began with the march of Graduates followed by a singing of the National Anthem. Master of Ceremonies Isaura Rodriguez opened the evening with words describing what it is like to be a part of WSC and brought a steady flow to the evening’s events.
The evening progressed with musical performances by Soamwattee Sharma, Elizabeth Graham-Rowe, Marina Anthonypillai and a poem read by Jacqueline Campbell. Both Maria Chatzigoula, Medical Reception Graduate, & Elizabeth Graham-Rowe, Office Clerk Graduate, provided exceptional and emotional speeches to the current graduating class that brought tears of joy and understanding of what it meant to be a Graduate at this stage in everyone’s lives. Maria & Elizabeth expressed their gracious gratitude of what it meant be a part of this journey that is Working Skills Centre.
The graduates were presented with their diplomas and the festivities continued with the ceremonial cake cutting and raffle draw for great prizes provided by volunteers and graduates. Diana Mazzone, Social Media Coordinator, provided closing remarks courtesy of Ansuya Chetty that thanked the volunteers and staff who engineered this event and left the graduating class with inspiring words to set them off on their journey.
