Graduating Class of 2014!

A group of twenty-six proud graduates received their diplomas at the WSC and Academy of Computer & Employment Skills Graduation Ceremony on April 25, 2014. Fourteen (14) graduates were awarded the Computerized Accounting Diploma, six (6) graduates were awarded the Medical Receptionist Diploma and six (6) graduates were awarded the Office Clerk Diploma.

Guests, staff and volunteers shared in the celebration which took place at the Anne Johnston Health Station. A special thank you to Margaret Cheung and the Anne Johnston Health Station for allowing us the use of their Hall which proved to be an excellent venue for this event.

Heartfelt congratulations go out to all graduates of Working Skills Centre. We wish them every success in their journey. Thank you also to WSC volunteers and staff for your amazing support in making the April 25, 2014 Graduation Ceremony a success. Your hard work, participation in the program, as well as in-kind and financial support is greatly appreciated.

WSC wishes all of its 2013/2014 graduates the best of luck in their future endeavors.

Donations:

The Walk/Run was a great success. It was a terribly cold day but the WSC Team (Team Troopers!) were there. If you have made a pledge or still wish to make a donation you can donate by sending a cheque payable to Working Skills Centre, donating cash to the team member you sponsored, donating a cheque or cash to a WSC staff or board representative or visiting canadahelps.org online and donating on line. If you use the on-line option your charitable receipt will be sent to you within a week by email.

WSC Mission Statement:

Working Skills Centre (WSC) is an innovative, community-based, non-profit, charitable organization that empowers immigrants, primarily women. Our purpose is to prepare our clients to fully participate in Canadian society by providing education, work experience, and settlement services that ultimately lead to employment.

Achilles Canada Mission:

To empower you, through running or walking to take control of your health, to increase your self-confidence, to become more involved in the mainstream world, and to reach your full potential.

Please tell all your running buddies, friends, co-workers about the 15th annual event which will be the 7th consecutive year that WSC has entered a team.

This years challenge and goal is to raise over $12,000!

PLEASE help us achieve our goal!
Any money raised in support of Team WSC goes directly to WSC’s educational programs and services. There are no fees or % given for administration.

Charitable receipts will be issued by WSC for all amounts over $20.00 within 3 weeks of the race date.

Playing for Keeps

Funded by the Playing for Keeps Neighborhood Games Toronto Foundation,  all of our P4K events are involved with physical and mental activities that bring community members together, get to know each other, enjoy sharing the skills and talents of different cultures such as dances, songs, board games. You can get involved more with the community by increasing your self-esteem, become more active leaders and live a healthier life, physically and mentally!

Social Café for Women

Thanks to generous funding from The McLean Foundation, Working Skills Centre is once again hosting Social Café for Women, a FREE weekly networking and learning opportunity geared towards immigrant women from the local community.

From August 10 to October 26, 2020, WSC will offer a new series of amazing workshops and networking events from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm every Monday. This is an opportunity for immigrant women to build their communication skills, gain practical knowledge, participate in social activities, build a network and learn more about Canada.
