Objective:

To assist Working Skills Centre (WSC) in a manner consistent with the agency’s mandate to develop, deliver and evaluate skills training programs that meet the needs of stakeholders and the requirements set out in specific contracts listed below:

Responsibilities:

Training
* To deliver an approved modules of the Computerized Accounting Diploma Program including Accounting Principles, Simply Accounting, ACCPAC and QuickBooks
* To update curriculum when needed, contact employers and work with others to ensure clients are obtaining skills needed in today’s job market, especially related to accounting positions
* To produce learning materials including, but not limited to practical exercises, exams, quizzes, and other assignments
* Provide assessments and grades according to MTCU requirements
* To maintain class attendance lists and participation charts
Operations
* Maintain computer equipment in the Accounting lab and report deficiency if relevant
* Attend Instructor Team meeting and staff meetings when required.

Key Relationships and Contracts:

* Reports to Dean of Students
* Works with an external Advisory Committee and employers, if applicable
* Primary responsibility according to the attached schedule to deliver training to clients under the Employment Services Contract with Toronto Employment and Social Services (TESS), City of Toronto

Qualifications and Competencies:

* University or College degree or working towards a degree
* Practical work experience related to the field in which instruction will be offered
* Ability to design curriculum in a timely manner
* A minimum of 5 years teaching adults
* Understanding of immigrant issues and challenges facing WSC clients
* Understanding of WSC’s philosophy and an ability to work within a multicultural framework
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Excellent problem solving skills
* Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision
* Ability to speak a second language, an asset
* Excellent computer skills in MS Office Suite software
* Ability to use the internet for research and knowledge of email etiquette

Instructors are paid at a mutually agreed to rate for hours in the classroom plus ½ hour of preparation or exam marking time for each 3-hour class taught. Wage offer between $20.00 to $25.00/hr based on qualifications.
